Captain Nate Eckler

I’m a USCG 100 Ton Master with Near Coastal and Towing Endorsements, and I’ve spent years working on the water in both professional and teaching roles.

Before moving to the Gulf Coast, I founded and operated Sacramento Delta Youth Maritime in California. During that time, I served as captain of the Morris, a retired U.S. Coast Guard cutter and the largest youth training vessel in the world.

I’ve cruised and sailed extensively over the years, including throughout California, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. I also own and race sailboats, which keeps me connected to a different side of boating altogether.

I now live full time in New Orleans aboard a 53-foot Hatteras Motor Yacht, The Mad Hatter, with my wife and our four boat dogs.
